The best fish for biorb fish tanks are smaller sized tropical fish. They take up less space and produce less waste.
You can also keep some cold water fish in your biorb tank, such as goldfish or whitecloud mountain minnows. It’s worth bearing in mind though that goldfish do grow big! They may start out tiny, but full sized they are huge.
The amount of fish you can have in your tank really depends on the size of the tank you have chosen. The bigger the tank the more the fish, and more variety you can have.
Here are some examples of popular cold water and smaller sized tropical fish you could keep in your tank:
Cold water fish
White Cloud Mountain Minnows
Tropical warm water fish
Biorb make a few different sizes of fish tank varying in price.
The baby biorb fish really is a baby and holds just 15 litres of water (with silver or black base) – the best retail price £63.95
This sized tank holds 30 litres of water (with silver or black base) – the best retail price £89.99
This sized tank holds 60 litres of water – the best retail price is £134.99
This sized tank holds 105 litres of water and is the largest size tank in the range – the best retail price is £294.99
Prices everywhere do tend to go up and down so these just give you a rough estimate of what you can expect to pay. As you can see, the bigger the fish tank, the more expensive they become.
However the bigger the tank the better, because it means your fish have more room and there is more water to dilute any excrement and toxins, giving you a healthier tank overall.
Each of the fish tanks come with everything you need to set them up with the exception of a heater which you will need to buy extra if you want to put tropical fish in there instead of cold water fish.
Just make sure that the heater you buy is the right size for the tank you get. The heaters will say how much tank water they can heat up. You don’t want a mega powerful heater in a small tank and vice versa.
Most fish tank heaters cost between £10-12 so they are not too expensive. I have used several different brands of heater in different sizes and never had a problem with any of them.
Really Biorb fish tanks are better suited for small tropical fish than for goldfish so it is better to order a heater at the same time as the fish tank if you intend to get tropical fish.
There is a much greater choice of small tropical fish too. When keeping cold water fish you are quite limited on what types you can choose.
